Project Title : Empowerment through computer literacy
Community Name : Trincity
Community Description : Trincity is situated along the east west corridor. Characterized with many groups of people - housewives, retirees, single parents; who are desirous of improving their skills by becoming computer literate. Young adults are alse seeking to become more marketable in the world of work.
Location Name : Casselton Gardens
Location Address : 30 Harvest Cresent Casselton Gardens.
Available Facilities : Victory in the Word's "Community House".
Problem Addressed : A high level of computer illiteracy and ignorance about the benefits of computers.
How were the target group involved in identifying the project? : Through community meetings, the need for enhanced computer skills was identified.
How benefit project : Acquiring of skills for life: gaining a means to source employment through providing services for others (typing resume). Increase self esteem and self worth. Building community spirit and team work.
How involved project deployment : Participants will be involved in maintaining attendance and punctuality records, ensure readiness of the environment for class sessions; 2 reps will monitor proper use of equipments.
Environmental concerns : This project is intended to enhance the social environment by providing computer access (internet services) to the wider community, thereby making knowledge easily accessible to all.

Objective(s) : 1) Equipping participants to become more marketable in life and also improve their status of living. Skills would also be given to single parents to better be able to help themselves and their children.

Start Date : 03/07
End Date : 06/07
Duration : 4 months
Remarks : 3 months of classes, 1 month of evaluation reports and graduation.
Project : Target Group
Description : Unemployed youths; single parents wanting to assist their children; retired workers wanting to learn about computers; beginners in the world of work wanting profiency.

Project : Indicators of Achievements
Indicators : 1) Number of graduates in employment by 4th month after project (measured by follow-up of survey of graduates).
2) 15 trainees able to demonstrate acquired work skills (measured by practical demonstrations, tutor's evaluation and examination).
3) Enrollment of 20 persons and attendance record by at least 18 of them (measured from class roll).
Project : Expected Results
Expected Results : 1) 15 trainees made "job ready" for employment either being self employed or as office staff.
2) All graduates securing appropiate employment within 4 montns of completion of training.
3) Deliver skills training to 18 young persons and adults over a six month period.
Project : Sustainability
Element Repeat How Sustained
A basic training programme will be repeated with new participants. This ensures that assets procured will benefit the community and also enhance community projects (flyers, brochures).

Element of Project Implications
Specifid training in survey methods by participants. CBO will develop expertise and skills which can be used in other projects as well as motivate groups towards entrepeneural ventures.
