The first (1st) meeting of the Siparia RSHDC was held in September, 2005 at the Conference room of the Siparia Social Welfare Department. In November 2005 the Siparia Project Implementation Unit was formerly established staffed with a Regional Coordinator and is housed in the Social Welfare Department in the Administrative Building on High Street in Siparia. RSHDC meetings are held on the second Friday every month.

The Siparia RSHDC is responsible for the geographical area that is serviced by the Siparia Regional Corporation as far as the Icacos Coast in the south, Pluck Road New Cut Channel in the north, Point Fortin Borough in the west and Quinam Road in the east. 

The population of Siparia is approximately eighty five thousand 85,000.

The Chairman of the RSHDC is a representative from the Ministry of   Social Development and comprise of members from other Government agencies and from the Network of Civil Society Organization. There are two subcommittees which are the Appraisal Committee which appraises projects and recommends applications for RMPF funding and the Monitoring and Evaluation Committee which monitors and reports on the progress of the projects.


Successes 

The Siparia RSHDC was successful in 2006 attaining funding for twelve (12) projects for the Region and the first two projects received their first disbursement in June 2006. These projects are Destiny Family Life Foundation and La Brea Core Group. Projects include sewing, agriculture, skills training, educational, computer training among many others.


Outreaches 

The Siparia RSHDC held two major outreaches one in Erin and the other in Los Bajos. Organizations and groups from the communities were invited and the Regional Coordinator, RSHDC and CSN attended.  

At these outreaches members of the RSHDC and CSN were introduced and the Micro Project Fund promoted.


Activity Plan 

The Siparia RSHDC plans to host an Outreach programme at the Siparia Fete in April, 2007 at which the various Ministries departments represented on the RSHDC would showcase their services.
