Princes Town
Success Stories
During the month of June 2006, the Council assisted Ms. Shantal Gordon, 10 years old, of the Sixth Company A.C. School with sporting gear to participate in the Eleventh Renewal of the Caribbean Union of Teachers Students’ Track and Field Championships. This competition was held in St. Lucia, from 19th July – 24th July 2006. We’re proud to report that Ms. Gordon returned with several medals from the track meet.
During the month of May 2006, our RSHDC assisted the Rock River Community Improvement group with acquiring water to begin their project in Food Preparation. They successfully trained 25 persons. Below are some pictures from their graduation and dinner ceremony on 14th September 2006.

Outreaches
• On Friday 7th April 2006, the members of the Princes Town RSHDC toured ‘De Mang’. The intent of these tours is to acquire first hand information on poverty and to determine how the Council may assist residents in each area to improve community life. Several tours of this nature are planned.
• On Friday 30th June 2006, we held a Consultation and workshop for the CBOs and NGOs in Region 3 at the Ste. Madeleine Regional Complex. From 9:30a.m. to 12:30p.m. the groups were given an overview of the Poverty Reduction Programme, and information on how to access funding. We also explored several concepts which groups raised for projects and the feasibility of having them implemented.
• From the 16th – 17th September 2006, the government held a weekend outreach to the residents of the Marabella Trainline area. Our Honourable Minister Anthony Roberts was present and representatives from Social Development and other ministries: Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Ministry of Health, National Security.
